Kenner woman dies after three-vehicle crash on Airline Hwy.

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Louisiana State Police are investigating a three-vehicle crash on Airline Highway that claimed the life of a Kenner woman.

The crash happened just after 3 p.m. Friday near Windsor Street in St. John the Baptist Parish.

According to investigators, 27-year-old Mayra A. Dominguez was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu northbound on Airline Hwy. in the right lane when for reasons unknown she crossed into the southbound lanes.

Dominguez's vehicle crossed into the path of a 2009 Chevrolet Impala traveling southbound in the left lane on Airline Hwy. The Impala was then struck by a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado traveling southbound in the right lane.

The driver of the Impala, 22-year-old Jeremiah Young of Vacherie, and the driver of the Silverado, 57-year-old Tommy Lajaunie of Houma, were both taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Dominguez was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries. She succumbed to her injuries Saturday morning.

State Police say it is currently unknown if speed and impairment are factors in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
