Albany man killed in crash on LA 445

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - An Albany man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Monday night in Ponchatoula.

Around 10:25 p.m. troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to the crash on LA 445 near the intersection of Mike Cooper Road.

The crash has claimed the life of 28-year-old Albany resident Jordan M. Hoyt.

According to the report, Hoyt was driving a 2002 Ford F-150 southbound on LA 445. He then traveled into the northbound lane and entered the ditch on the left side of the roadway.

Hoyt's vehicle crashed into the ditch embankment at Mike Cooper Road and continued southbound in the ditch, crashing into several trees before overturning.

According to the report, Hoyt was unrestrained at the time of the crash and was partially ejected. He sustained severe injuries and was transported to North Oaks Health Systems where he later died.

Alcohol is not suspected to have contributed to this crash.

As part of the ongoing investigation, blood samples were collected and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
