Report: Evacuated residents allowed to return home after fire at chemical plant

DUSON, LA (WVUE) - Residents who were evacuated Thursday night after a chemical fire at a plant in Duson will be allowed to return to their homes Friday morning, according to a report by KATC.

Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson said that his office along with DEQ officials will begin allowing evacuated residents to re enter their homes starting at 6 a.m, according to the report.

Louisiana State Police Hazmat ordered a five-mile radius evacuation around the fire.

The fire closed I-10 eastbound and westbound lanes for several hours, but officials reopened the interstate once the scene was contained.
