NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A contractor was injured when a home collapsed in the Lower Ninth Ward Friday.
Around 8:30 a.m. The New Orleans Fire Department received a 911 call regarding a building collapse in the 400 block of St. Maurice Avenue.
When firefighters arrived on scene they saw shotgun home that was under renovation collapsed.
According to NOFD, contractors were shoring up the framing of the property when the roof collapsed.
One worker suffered injuries to his head and torso and was transferred to an area hospital.
Inspectors from the city's Office of Housing and Code Enforcement were on the scene inspecting the property as NOFD personnel were released from the scene at 10:08 a.m.
Six NOFD units carrying sixteen Fire and Rescue Operations personnel responded to this incident. Entergy also assisted with mitigation efforts.
