PLAQUEMINES PARISH, LA (WVUE) -

A Venice man and convicted child rapist was arrested Friday on child pornography charges, according to the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office.

Jason Landry, 23, was booked with eight counts of possession of pornography involving a juvenile.

In December of 2017, the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office Investigations Bureau, working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation Cyber Task Force, began investigating Landry relative to child pornography being shared online. The investigation eventually led to the execution of a search warrant at Landry’s home, where detectives discovered pornography involving juveniles.

“This type of case is exactly why we participate in federal and multi-jurisdictional task force,” said Sheriff Gerald Turlich. “Thank you to the FBI, our detectives and federal task force agents for casting a broader net that led to the apprehension of a juvenile sexual repeat offender from our community.”

Landry was convicted in October 2016 of aggravated rape involving a juvenile. He was released from prison in January 2017. Detectives said Landry complied with his registration requirements and was a registered sexual offender in Plaquemines Parish.

Landry is currently jailed at the Plaquemines Parish Detention Center on a $120,000 bond.

Anyone with additional information about Landry is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Holly Hardin at 504-934-6824.
