Attempted homicide suspect threatens to shoot cops, kill self if caught, NOPD says

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened in Little Woods Monday.

Officers responded to the call around 6 a.m. in the 9400 block of Dinkins Street, according to the report.

According to NOPD, when officers arrived they found a 30-year-old female victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.

NOPD said the victim was transported to University Medical.

Police are searching for Steven Donald Grant, 32, in connection to the shooting. NOPD is investigating the incident as an attempted homicide.

According to NOPD, after repeated threats to kill the victim and himself, Grant shot the victim while she was lying bed.

Grant has communicated a threat to kill himself, and would fire at officers if located, according to NOPD.

Grant is considered armed and extremely dangerous. His last known address was in the 7000 block of Boston Street.

Grant is believed to be driving a newer model sliver Nissan Altima, bearing a Louisiana temporary tag.
