NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Law enforcement arrested a man suspected of killing someone in the Algiers area.

Members of the NOPD's Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals arrested David Collins, 38, on Tuesday. He is accused of fatally shooting Kevin Dunkley in the 3900 block of Behrman Hwy. on April 18.

Investigators found the victim lying in the middle of the road.

Collins was identified as a suspect and arrested in the 100 block of Lighthouse Point in Slidell.

In addition to the homicide charge, Collins was also arrested on an active warrant for simple battery in an incident that occurred in May of 2011.

Collins will be booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on the aforementioned charges.
