BATON ROUGE (WAFB) - Louisiana lawmakers approved a bill that could allow online fantasy sports gambling in the state.
The Senate voted 21-15 in favor of the measure Wednesday.
Representative Kirk Talbot's house bill would allow each parish to approve fantasy sports gambling.
Talbot said online fantasy sports could raise money for the state without increasing taxes.
If Governor John Bel Edwards agrees, voters will get to decide on the initiative in November.
Online fantasy sports gambling is already legal in 19 states.
