NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Family members of the man who died while in custody during an undercover Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office narcotics investigation Monday, said they plan on conducting an independent autopsy.

Autopsy results of 22-year-old Keeven Robinson have not yet been released.

Sheriff Joe Lopinto said deputies attempted to make a traffic stop when they saw Robinson at the Shell gas station on LaBarre Place and Jefferson Highway.

Lopinto said Robinson got back into his vehicle when he saw the deputies, and rammed into two of their vehicles.

Deputies said Robinson then got out of his vehicle and jumped several fences before they arrested him in a backyard.

Robinson was taken into custody, but began struggling with his breathing, according to Lopinto. He was taken to an area hospital where he later died.

Lopinto said the suspect had a history with asthma.
