Man arrested for aggravated assault, stolen gun

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans police arrested a 35-year-old who allegedly had a stolen gun and was wanted for aggravated assault.

The assault happened on Friday in New Orleans East.

Just before 4 p.m., officers patrolling in the area of the 14000 block of Peltier Dr. saw the suspect, Melvin Boudreaux, who was known to the officers as a wanted subject for aggravated assault.

When officers attempted to stop and talk to Boudreaux, he did not comply and fled on foot, leading officers on a brief foot chase.

Boudreaux was apprehended and, after a search, was found to be in possession of a handgun found to have been reported stolen out of St. Bernard Parish.

He was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for aggravated assault with a firearm, illegal carrying of a firearm and illegal possession of a stolen firearm.
