St. John judge to take a leave of absence following accusations of sexual misconduct

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH, LA (WVUE) - A St. John the Baptist Parish judge is taking a leave of absence following an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct.

Judge Jeff Perilloux, who serves in Division B in the 40th Judicial District released a statement Wednesday afternoon.

"I contacted the Louisiana State Supreme Court and requested a leave if absence from my position as judge of Division B in the 40th Judicial District in order to address the allegations made against me and to protect the integrity of the Judiciary and the functions of the court.

The state recently opened up an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct involving Perilloux, a 15-year-old girl and possibly two others.

The case has forced at least two judges to recuse themselves.
