NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - An Independence man died in a three-vehicle crash in Raceland Thursday morning.
State Police said around 5:30 a.m. Troop C was dispatched to the fatal wreck on LA 308 south of US 90.
The crash took the life of 28-year-old Jeremy McCarroll, according to State Police.
According to the report, McCarroll was traveling south on LA 308 in a 1998 Toyota pick-up truck.
McCarroll crossed the center line and sideswiped a 2016 Chevrolet Sonic driven by 76-year-old Penny Haynes of Kenner. Haynes was traveling north on LA 308.
McCarroll then struck a 2003 Ford pick-up head-on that was being driven by 38-year-old Travis Sassoni of Cut Off, LA, according to the report..
McCarroll was transported to University Medical Center in New Orleans by Acadian Ambulance Service where he later died from his injuries, State Police said..
Haynes and Sassoni were both restrained and suffered minor injuries. They were transported to Ochsner St. Anne Hospital by Acadian Ambulance Service, according to the report.
State Police say impairment is unknown at this time. A standard toxicology report is pending for McCarroll.
It is also unknown if he was properly restrained at the time of the crash and Troopers are continuing their investigation, according to the report.
Haynes and Sassoni were not suspected to be impaired.
