NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - After a downpour Friday, crews cut up and cleared a downed tree blocking Dumaine Street.
Neighbors say they heard a loud bang before a large section of the tree split away and blocked the street. The unwelcome barricade added a complication for drivers looking for higher ground as nearby streets became impassable.
It happened as the storm blew through between 4 and 5 p.m., just a block from where Bayou Boogaloo was set to begin. The event was cancelled Friday but was expected to resume Saturday.
