NOPD searching for suspect in NOE carjacking

The New Orleans Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating and identifying a suspect who is wanted in connection with a carjacking incident in New Orleans East. 

The incident happened Monday at the intersection of Alvar and Almonaster Avenue. 

The victim was traveling northbound on Alvar Street when he stopped at a stop sign. He then heard a deep male voice demanding him to get out of the car.

According to NOPD, the victim exited the vehicle when the perpetrator demanded he empty his pockets.

The victim complied, and the subject fled the scene in his silver 2009 Infiniti FX35 SUV, bearing Louisiana license plate #471AZK, according to the report.

Police said the vehicle has tinted windows and the driver side rear bumper is missing a piece.

The perpetrator was wearing a red shirt, black jeans and white shoes during the time of the incident, according to NOPD.
