A tropical storm watch was issued for New Orleans and some surrounding areas on Friday at 4 p.m. A tropical storm surge watch was also issued east of the Mississippi River, but that does not include New Orleans.
Alberto will move into the Gulf of Mexico this weekend. Our weather beginning Sunday night into Memorial Day and Tuesday will depend on the eventual track and strength of the storm.
In the meantime, expect another day of showers and storms on Saturday. There could be some heavy downpours.
Sunday will be a transition day with not as many storms. Drier air from the fringes of Alberto may limit storm development. The breeze may pick up late in the day and some showers will be possible from time to time.
Memorial Day and Tuesday have the potential for the greatest impacts, if at all, from Alberto.
By the end of next week, it will turn sunny hot and dry with near record hot temperatures possible.
