JEFFERSON PARISH, LA (WVUE) -

Subtropical Storm Alberto has formed and is expected to pass through the Gulf of Mexico this weekend. Jefferson Parish says it is prepared.

The Jefferson Parish Drainage Department is fully staffed with 287 employees who operate and maintain 69 pump stations and 184 pumps in the system.

Citizens are asked to help reduce the chance of street flooding by clearing debris from their streets and drains around their property when it is safe to do so; such debris impedes water flow into the drainage system.

If there are issues and you need assistance during normal business hours please contact the Drainage Department at 504-736-6751.

For after hour questions and concerns with the Drainage Department call the following:

  • East Bank Complaints: 504-736-6578
  • West Bank Complaints: 504-437-4940

The Jefferson Parish Sewerage Department is fully staffed with 200 employees who operate and maintain 505 sewer lift stations and wet wells, as well as 18,000 manholes. The Parish also has 6 wastewater treatment plants.
