(WVUE) -

The MLB Draft may be the most unpredictable of any American sport's selection process and the 2018 installment reminded Louisiana products of that once again.

LSU's Zach Watson and Zack Hess were projected to be picked in the first 100 picks but an apparent fear of the sophomores not going pro led teams to hold off until the 40th and 34th rounds, respectively.

Likewise, Destrehan pitcher and top LSU signee Landon Marceaux's projection of #117 overall didn't translate as he waited until the 37th round to be selected by the Yankees. By that time Wednesday, he had already stated that he would, in fact, opt for college over the professional route.

Below is a list of all of the draft picks with ties to South Louisiana:

4th Round, Tampa Bay Rays: Grant Witherspoon, Tulane Outfielder

6th Round, Los Angeles Dodgers: Bryan Warzek, UNO Pitcher

8th Round, Colorado Rockies: Nick Bush, LSU Pitcher

12th Round, Chicago Cubs: Cam Sanders, LSU Pitcher

12th Round, LA Dodgers: Hunter Feduccia, LSU Catcher

14th Round, NY Mets: Andrew Mitchell, Former Jesuit/Delgado Pitcher

18th Round, Chicago Cubs: Jake Slaughter, LSU Infielder

19th Round, Cleveland Indians: Antoine Duplantis, LSU Outfielder

25th Round, Toronto Blue Jays: Will McAffer, Tulane Pitcher

34th Round, Atlanta Braves: Zack Hess, LSU Pitcher

37th Round, NY Yankees: Landon Marceaux, Destrehan Pitcher
