Ex-gymnastics coach jailed in JP faces new charges in another parish

ST. CHARLES PARISH, LA (WVUE) - St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne on Thursday announced an update in the case of a former gymnastics coach accused of sexually abusing juveniles.

Champagne said his office has obtained arrest warrants for 26-year-old Kenner resident Jonathan West involving two new juvenile victims. The alleged criminal acts detailed in the warrants occurred at Flipnastics in Luling between April and May of 2018. West, who already faces charges in Jefferson Parish, will be booked with three counts of sexual battery, one count of oral sexual battery and two counts of indecent behavior with juveniles - all felony charges.

West is currently jailed in Jefferson Parish and will be extradited to St. Charles Parish upon his release.

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office said it is still actively investigating the incident and has identified other potential victims. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
