(WVUE) - #7 - Brazil's Resurgence

2014 was set up to be a coronation for the Seleção as they hosted the tournament and hoped to win their sixth title on the back of up-and-coming superstar Neymar. While Neymar scored four goals, his tournament was ended prematurely by a back injury and the team was subsequently bounced with an unceremonious 7-1 semifinals defeat at the hands of Germany.

Since the World Cup failure, Brazil has had mixed results. They were eliminated from the 2015 Copa America by Paraguay in the first knockout stage game but bounced back in the summer of 2016 to win Olympic gold on their home soil.
Neymar is coming off a knee injury but all signs are that he has a better supporting cast this time around. England bookmakers are confident enough in the rebuilt Brazil squad that they are installed as 9/2 favorites to win the tournament, ahead of Germany (5/1), Spain (61/10) and France (13/2.)

Brazil's five World Cup trophies are the most by any country but Germany is right on their heels with four, as is Italy, although the Italians did not qualify for a trip to Russia this summer.
