One man dead, another man injured in Gentilly stabbing

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a stabbing that left one man dead and another injured in Gentilly Sunday morning.

Police received a call of shots fired in the 3300 block of Mandeville Street around 9:20 a.m.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found two males inside of a home suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. The second victim was taken to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries. During the investigation, it was determined that the victims were stabbed although shots had been fired inside of the house.

Investigators are working to determine a suspect and a motive.

The name of the victim has not been released pending an autopsy and family notification. Once the autopsy is completed, the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will release the victim's name and the official cause of death.
