Pearl River community angry about death of brain tumor survivor

PEARL RIVER, LA (WVUE) - Residents of Pearl River are angry and upset after the death of 46-year-old Jeffrey Howell.

Howell died after a scuffle on the Pearl River Saturday afternoon which is believed to have broken out after he tried to tell a group on a sandbar to stop throwing bottles in the river.

Friends say Howell had recently  just survived surgery to remove a brain tumor and was feeling optimistic about his future.

They said the community lost a good man who was eager to help many of their neighbors.

The St. Tammany Parish coroner is conducting an autopsy Monday morning.

Two arrests have been made in this case:.21-year-old our old Cameron Alphonso of Slidell has been arrested and charged with manslaughter and 22-year-old Alden Kindergran was booked with disturbing the peace.
