(WVUE) -

Better late than never. That's what the Saints are saying about Mark Ingram's long awaited arrival back at the facility. He was on the field with the Black and Gold for the first time today for the start of the mandatory mini-camp.

Ingram skipped the off-season workouts, and all three weeks of organized team activities.

He returns to a more crowded backfield with the addition of Boston Scott, and a few other names that will have to pick up the slack for Ingram while he serves his suspension to start the season.

Coach Payton as you'd expect, didn't go into great detail about any conversations with Ingram. But did say he's a welcomed sight on the practice field.

"Good, good. I think he's in good shape. He did well, good seeing him out here," said Payton.

"I'm not really going to say much on the suspension. But I fought it hard, and I don't agree with it, but I'm going to serve my suspension when it's time. Hopefully we're 4-0 when I come back. But like I said, I fought it hard. I don't agree with it, but I'm going to serve my suspension, and I'll be back and I'll be ready," said Mark Ingram.

John Emery, Jr. has been terrorizing defenders since he stepped up to the varsity squad at Destrehan. His rise to the second-best running back in the country according to 247 Sports, comes as no surprise to many, including his head coach.  "You could see it early. You could see it coming through the middle schools, he had that special talent. There was comparisons to Rondell Mealey, who had a great career here. You could see him develop, and once he got here you could see t...
