NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - New Orleans Jail officials and court appointed monitors will give updates on reform efforts Wednesday.

The update comes as fights and drug abuse continue at the jail despite efforts undertaken in the five-year-old court-backed reform plan.

The hearing will focus on the 2013 agreement between Sheriff Marlin Gusman and inmate advocates who sued over conditions at the jail.

In 2016, Gusman agreed to give up authority over the lockup to a court-approved compliance director.
