NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Someone stole a handgun, uniform, ammunition and two gold wrist watches from the car of an Orleans Parish sheriff's deputy in the Bayou St. John area.

New Orleans police said the auto burglary happened in the 3100 block of Toulouse St.

At about 3 a.m., the victim, who is an Orleans Parish Sheriff's deputy, told police he parked his vehicle in the driveway of his residence after leaving a detail.

The victim then returned to his vehicle later that morning at about 5:15 a.m.

When he opened the passenger-side door, he observed the middle console open and his commission wallet lying on the passenger-side seat.

At that time, he discovered his duty weapon, Glock model 17, uniform, two magazines, and two Michael Kors gold wrist watches missing from his vehicle.
