COVINGTON, LA (WVUE) - A Mandeville man will spend one month behind bars after a bar fight with a woman turned physical.  District Attorney Warren Montgomery says 39-year old  Vincent Pierce was convicted this week of domestic abuse battery for attacking a woman in 2015.

District Judge Scott Gardner, who issued the ruling, sentenced Pierce to six months in jail with all but one month suspended for the misdemeanor conviction. For the one-month jail sentence, Pierce was ordered to spend 15 weekends in jail. Gardner also ordered Pierce to attend anger management classes, perform community service, and have no contact with the victim.

The attack occurred Aug. 12, 2015, while Pierce and the woman were out drinking at a bar.  When they began arguing, Pierce reportedly grabbed the victim by her hair so hard that some of her hair was ripped out. Deputies then say he then threw her to the ground. Pierce also injured the victim's fingers by bending them backwards on a table.
