Tulane and Superdome spokesperson Bill Curl dies at 77

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Former Tulane Sports Information Director and longtime spokesperson for the Superdome, Bill Curl has died. He was 77.

Curl became Tulane’s Sports Information Director in 1966 after moving from Ohio. He later moved to Arkansas to take a job with the University of Arkansas in 1974 but moved back to New Orleans soon after.

Curl served as the spokesperson for the Superdome from 1977 until 2010.

Along with being Tulane’s Sports Information Director and the spokesperson for the Superdome, Curl was the first president of the Louisiana Sports Information Directors Association. He was inducted into the Tulane Athletics Hall of Fame and received the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame’s Distinguished Service Award in Sports Journalism in 2003.

Curl is survived by his wife Carolyn and their four children, Scott, Ricky, Kate and Christy.
