Fournette looking to the future, not dwelling on past accomplishments

(WVUE) - We knew long ago at St. Augustine that Leonard Fournette was going to be a special talent. Now the NFL knows after Fournette and his Jacksonville squad came up one game short of the Super Bowl.

"It was cool man, I enjoyed it. We had a great run for my first year and like I said, we have the talent, we have the coaches. I believe we have a franchise type team also. So when you put all those guys together like me, Jalen Ramsey, Calais Campbell and year two for me so big things ahead for us," said Fournette.

A sophomore slump doesn't look likely for Fournette with an offense geared around the strongest parts of his game.

"We're a run team first. We have to polish up our skills to be a better run team. Our chemistry has to get better as a whole. We had a great run last year, but that's over with. No one is thinking about last year, we're on to the next," said Fournette.

The next big thing to come out of the Tiger backfield is Derrius Guice. Washington drafted the do-all running back this April after his draft stock dropped unexpectedly.

"He's going to have a great year. I told him about following me, I'm 27 he's 29. He's always had the talent. When I was at LSU, he was a hard worker, a great kid. Big things are going to come for Derrius this year," said Fournette.
