The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office confirms that it executed a search warrant to obtain documents related to another investigation into Stephen Krentel, the former Chief of St. Tammany Parish Fire District 12, who is accused of misconduct.

Late last month, the Fire District's Board of Directors voted to suspend Krentel for 60 days without pay after finding that he had affairs with two subordinates and improperly removed air conditioning units from the fire department.

The investigation comes as police look into who killed his wife, Nanette. She was found shot to death in the couple's burnt out home in July 2017.

A spokesperson for the STPSO said that investigators will make every effort to obtain information that could pertain to an investigation. The spokesperson adds that the Nanette Krentel case remains an open and active investigation.
