NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Dawn Impastato has been searching for her 23-year-old son Samuel for the past two days. "We're desperate to find him and if anybody has seen him please contact in NOPD or Saint Tammany Parish sheriffs office," she said.
Impastato says her son left Slidell for a concert at the Joy Theater in New Orleans on Wednesday. Thursday afternoon, someone spotted Samuel at a shop on Royal Street and says he seemed to be disoriented.
That was the last time he was seen and his mother pleads for his safe return.
"He's a really sweet person and he'll do anything for anybody and he looks at people, he's non-judgmental. He's caring and I hope that's not what got him into trouble," explained Dawn. "I know he went to a couple of ATM's, I know he made the purchase at the voodoo shop. I know there are cameras all over the Vieux Carre and it seems to me time is of the essence."
Dawn and her family filed a missing person's report, Friday. The next day, detectives say they found Samuel's black Altima at Canal and Villere, not far from the concert he attended.
"We were really hopeful that they found his car but he's not answering his phone and he hasn't made any other purchases so, at this point, we're pretty worried," said Dawn. "I'm really fearful of foul play."
Yet, Dawn says she's cautiously optimistic, scouring the French Quarter, posting flyers of her son and questioning folks in the area.
"He helps the homeless a lot. I went looking for him over there thinking maybe he just went there to see what their life is about but nobody had seen him over there," Dawn explained.
Samuel's car is now in the hands of the St. Tammany Sheriff's Office. As Dawn waits for detectives to search the car for evidence, she holds onto hope her son will soon be found.
"We love him very much and we want him to come home safe," said Dawn.
Samuel is 5'7" and around 280 pounds. If you have any information about his whereabouts, you're asked to call the St. Tammany Sheriff's Office at (985) 898-2338.
