Suspicious activity leads to drug arrests in St. Tammany

ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WVUE) -

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested three Covington-area individuals on drug and gun related charges following an investigation of suspicious activity.

According to a report by the sheriff's office, after 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday a St. Tammany Parish criminal patrol deputy was patrolling a Covington-area neighborhood located off Harrison Avenue, when he observed a subject peek his head up and out of the rear, open bed of a parked pickup truck. 

The deputy stopped to investigate and as he approached the parked truck, he observed two males and a female inside of the bed of the truck, who had been smoking marijuana, according to the report.

Another investigation led to the discovery and seizure of two firearms, varying amounts of marijuana, LSD, Ecstasy, Xanax, Adderall, and drug paraphernalia, including two electronic scales, and a small amount of cash, the report said.

All three subjects were arrested and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on the following charges:

Sylvanus Ellis III 

  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I - Felony (3-Counts)
  • Distribution of Schedule II - Felony
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule IV - Felony
  • Illegal Carrying of a Firearm - Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number - Felony
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Misdemeanor

Hailey Vieregge 

  • Illegal Carrying of a Firearm – Felony
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I - Felony

Peyton Lewis 

  • Possession of Marijuana – Misdemeanor
