NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

The New Orleans Police Department is investigating an aggravated assault with a firearm and shoplifting incident that occurred in the Fourth District.

The incident occurred on Wednesday  around 4:20 p.m. in the 3700 block of General Degaulle Drive.

The wanted subject, described as a black female, entered the business and created a disturbance.

The suspect confronted the clerk about being followed in the store at which time the clerk advised her that she could leave if she felt she was being followed.

The clerk proceeded to the front of the store where she was again confronted by the suspect.

During a verbal altercation, the suspect removed a handgun from her waistband and pointed the weapon at the clerk.

The suspect threatened to begin firing shots.

The clerk walked away from the suspect. The suspect placed the gun back into her waistband and verbally announced, “I’ll steal whatever I want out of here.”

The suspect removed a box of candy from the shelf and left the location, according to the report.
