LAPLACE, LA (WVUE) - More information is expected Monday about recently approved funds to protect against storm surge in the river parishes.
Last month, the federal government approved $760 million for the West Shore Hurricane Protection Project.
Officials will give a timeline on the project and announce what will happen before construction takes place.
The Army Corps of Engineers will pay the full cost up front, and the state will have 30 years to pay its 35 percent share.
The announcement is set for 1 p.m. at the St. John Community Center in LaPlace.
