JEFFERSON PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Jefferson Parish officials are calling for permanent air quality monitors amid concerns of foul odors surrounding the landfill.

According to a report by our partners NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune, Councilman Chris Roberts wants to install monitors on both sides of the Mississippi River.

Roberts said this would provide real-time information to parish officials.

To date, authorities have relied on trips to the parish with a vehicle outfitted with scientific instruments to investigate the smell.

The cost of the monitors is not known.
