Correct! Jacksonville was once called St. Nicholas Ferry

Provided by WorldNow

Stories of St. Nicholas, and celebrations of his feast day on Dec. 6, came to the New World with European explorers and settlers.

In Florida, Spanish colonists named one of their early settlements St. Nicholas Ferry. Today, that community is called Jacksonville.

Today, there are towns named Santa Claus in Indiana and Georgia. But the U. S. Census Bureau lists no modern American communities named for St. Nicholas.
