Zurik: Former State Police commissioner sues association, trooper
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The subject of a FOX 8 investigation has filed suit against the La. State Troopers Association and an individual trooper.
Our investigation last year showed a police report in which then-State Police Commissioner Calvin Braxton allegedly told a trooper he shouldn't have arrested his daughter, who was driving drunk. The report says Braxton threatened to get the trooper reassigned.
After our story, Braxton resigned from the State Police Commission.
Braxton's suit alleges statements made by the trooper and the association were false and defamatory. Braxton wants an award for the damages his reputation sustained.
The suit was filed in Braxton's hometown of Natchitoches.
The Troopers Association didn't return our request for a comment.
