Judge asks attorney for redraft of lawsuit against former Zulu president

Former Zulu President accused of sexual harassment back in court

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -A former Zulu president accused of sexual harassment was back in court Friday.

A former Zulu employee is suing Namaan Stewart in Orleans Parish Civil Court.

Gemell Hulbert said Stewart refused to let her leave a bathroom in 2015 until she showed her breasts and had sex with him. Hulbert did now show up in court, and was represented by her attorney.

Hulbert’s attorney said she had suffered, " irreparable harm," and was afraid to be there in person.

Hulbert’s attorney also revealed new information to the judge regarding her termination.

The attorney said Hulbert did not know until three years later that the reason she was terminated was because she complained of sexual harassment.

The judge asked that Hulbert’s attorney dismiss the current sexual harassment lawsuit, and redraft a new one in 15 days to reflect the new information.

She also said other Zulu members tried to intimidate her to not report Stewart’s conduct, and even offered her money to stay quiet.
