NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Houma police arrested a man and are looking for a juvenile following two separate shootings that left one person injured and a home riddled with bullet holes.

Around 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 22, officers responded to Leonard Chabert Medical Center after someone was shot in the 900 block of East Street. Officers located a 23-year-old man suffering from a gunshot injury to his foot. The victim was then treated at and released for his injuries.

The next day, police responded to a drive-by shooting in the 300 block of East St. Investigators located a residence that was occupied by eight people at the time of the shooting and located several bullet holes there.

Detectives learned that there was an ongoing feud between Shaft Verdin, 24, and a 16-year-old boy. Because of the ongoing feud, the juvenile attempted to shoot Shaft but he mistakenly shot the wrong person in a drive-by shooting on Sept. 22, police said. In that shooting, the vehicle was driven by Trent Authement, 23, with the 16-year-old being the alleged shooter.

After Verdin learned of the shooting, police said he decided to retaliate. Verdin went to a family residence and began shooting at a home in the 300 block of East St., which was occupied by eight family members of the juvenile. No one was injured.

As a result of the investigation, Authement was arrested for his role in the Sept. 22 shooting and he has been charged with one count of aggravated assault by drive-by shooting.

A warrant has been obtained on the 16-year-old boy for one count of attempted second-degree murder.

Warrants have also been issued for the arrest of Verdin for eight counts of attempted second-degree murder.
