NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -The City Planning Commission will try again next week to make a decision on the future of short term rentals.
The commission held a public hearing Tuesday over the study.
Public comment lasted nearly three hours.
Some of the study’s recommendations included getting rid of temporary licenses, putting in an appeals process for illegal operators, requiring short-term rental owners to live within a certain radius, and allowing rentals to operate city-wide.
Many speakers said if there were going to be changes they needed to be fair across the board.
The commission is encouraging people to submit written comments ahead of next Wednesday’s meeting.
