SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - No charge has been filed against a Shreveport resident who returned home Sunday afternoon to find two intruders in his home.
“That homeowner was armed and was able to fire shots, striking one of the suspects and mortally wounding him,” police Cpl. Marcus Hines said.
That suspect, a 40-year-old Shreveport man who has not yet been identified, is dead.
And the other suspect, identified by authorities as 47-year-old Martin Davenport, has been charged with one count of aggravated burglary.
Davenport, of the 1700 block of Clanton Street in Shreveport, was booked into Shreveport City Jail.
It happened about 3:11 p.m. Sunday on Marquette Avenue, Caddo 911 dispatch records show.
“A second man inside the home was able to escape the residence. However, he was apprehended a short time later by police responding to the scene," Hines said.
Davenport was taken to Shreveport police headquarters for questioning.
