NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - John Curtis captured a share of the Catholic League title after beating Rummel (7-2). 44-21. The Patriots (9-0) can win the league outright for the third year in a row by beating Shaw next week.
Curtis QB Collin Guggenheim accounted for four touchdowns in the contest. He scored on runs of 2 and 3 yards. By air he connected with Lance Williams for a 68-yard touchdown, and found Ma’Khi Smith for a 26-yard score.
Jayden Barfield had a key pick-six early in the third quarter, giving Curtis a 22-14 advantage. Corey Wren also gashed Rummel for a 53-yard TD.
Rummel’s Chandler Fields went 17-24 passing, 191 yards, 2TDs, INT. Koy Moore caught 9 passes for a 118 yards, including a 38-yard touchdown.
