Edna Karr is the back-to-back state champs in Class 4A.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - John Curtis is the 1-seed in Division I. The Patriots finished the regular season undefeated. They also won the Catholic League title outright.

Destrehan beat Terrebonne to win the District 7-5A title, and that got the Wildcats the 2-seed. Ehret starts the playoffs as the 2-seed. West Monroe is at the top of the bracket as the 1-seed.

The back-to-back state champ Edna Karr Cougars own the top seed in Class 4A. They’ll host Minden in round one.

Karr captures District 9-4A championship

Warren Easton is the 2-seed. The Eagles last won state way back in 1942.

St. Charles Catholic was picked as the 2-seed in Division II. De La Salle is the 4-seed. They host Vandebilt Catholic in round one. Undefeated Archbishop Hannan is the 4-seed. They have a bye in round one. The defending champs, U-High are the 1-seed, and the overwhelming favorite in this bracket.

St. James is a dangerous 9-seed in Class 3A. Quarterback Shamar Smith is one of the top talents in our area. Coach Robert Valdez and the Wildcats could do some damage in this bracket. Iota is the 1-seed for 3A.

The Country Day Cajuns grabbed their highest seed ever in the state playoffs, with a 2-seed in Division III. Joe Chango’s crew went undefeated in the regular season at 10-0.

Week 6 - Country Day at Newman

Newman is the 5-seed, and will host Northlake Christian. Last season, the Greenies made it all the way to the semi-finals, losing to Catholic-New Iberia. Notre Dame is the 1-seed.

The Amite Warriors will start the playoffs as the 2-seed. They will host Springfield in the first round. Amite has two of the top recruits in the country. Wide receiver Devonta Lee, and defensive lineman Ishmael Sopsher have the eyes of Alabama and LSU recruiters.

Many is the 1-seed in Class 2A. Amite hasn’t won a state title since 2004.

In Class 1A, Kentwood is the 3-seed, and West St. John is the 5-seed. Last year, the Rams beat the Kangaroos, 20-14 in the state title game. Oak Grove is the 1-seed in the 1A bracket.

Southern Lab holds the top spot in Division IV. The Kittens have two LSU commits on their roster. Offensive lineman Kardell Thomas, and running back Tyrion Davis are both committed to Coach Ed orgeron.
