NOFD responds to three-alarm fire in Gentilly

The New Orleans Fire Department responded to a three-alarm fire in Gentilly late Sunday night.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -The New Orleans Fire Department responded to a three-alarm fire in Gentilly late Sunday night.

NOFD responded to the call at 4421 Eastern Street around 11:46 p.m.

Firefighters arrived to find a single two-story building with light smoke coming from the eaves and fire in the back of the home.

According to NOFD, a second-alarm was requested just after midnight due to the fire spreading in the attic.

The fire caused the roof to start caving in, according to the report.

Firefighters were ordered to evacuate the residence for their safety, according to NOFD.

A third alarm was requested around 12:33 a.m. as firefighters worked to contain the fire from spreading to other homes. The fire was under control by 1:44 a.m.

There were no injuries reported, and the fire remains under investigation.
