NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a traffic fatality involving a bicyclst.

According to NOPD, officers responded to the scene in the 3600 block of General DeGaulle Drive Thursday night.

Officers found the victim suffering from injuries he sustained after he was struck by a cab driver, according to the report.

Police say the victim was transported to UMC where he later died from his injuries.

According to the report, the victim was traveling on his bike crossing the street when he was struck by the cab driver, who was traveling eastbound on General Degaulle Drive.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene during this incident, according to police. NOPD says blood and alcohol tests are pending.

No charges have been filed at this time, according to NOPD.
