LSU racks up 35 runs in three games to go undefeated on opening weekend

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The No. 1 ranked Tigers pounded out a total of 35 runs against ULM, Army, and Air Force to get a weekend sweep at Alex Box Stadium.

The LSU bats came out smoking in the opener against ULM, with batters going yard four times. Daniel Cabrera and Antoine Duplantis finished the contest with four home runs, and 11 combined RBI in a 12-7 win over ULM.

On Saturday, LSU had a flair for the dramatics against Army. Trailing 5-3 in the ninth, John Curtis alum Cade Beloso blasted a walkoff three-run homer to deliver a 6-5 victory.

Against Air Force, LSU distanced themselves early by putting up 10 runs in the first three innings. Twenty hits total was more than enough for an easy "W", 17-5.

Pitching was also strong for the Purple and Gold, with standout performances from freshman Landon Marceaux and Jaden Hill.

Marceaux, a Destrehan alum, went 5.2 innings, giving up only one run and striking out five against Army.

On Sunday, Jaden Hill went five innings, striking out eight, and only giving up one run in a win over Air Force.

LSU (3-0) returns to action Tuesday against Southeastern Louisiana. First pitch has been moved up to 4 p.m. The Lions (0-3) were swept by Louisiana Tech on opening weekend.
