NOPD: Man arrested in Central City fatal shooting
Norman Lee, 23, is accused of killing a man and injuring another in a Central City shooting Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A 23-year-old man was arrested in connection with a Central City shooting that left one man dead and another injured Sunday afternoon (Feb. 17), according to New Orleans police.

Norman Lee was booked into the Orleans Justice Center jail on one count of second-degree murder Monday evening, online court records show.

Lee is accused of shooting a 34-year-old man in the head around 1:30 p.m. the day before his arrest near the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Freret Street, according to an NOPD news release. Investigators also believe he is responsible for shooting a 79-year-old man in the leg.

The 34-year-old was pronounced dead on the scene, police said, and the other victim was brought to the hospital in stable condition.

Lee’s booking photo appears to show him in a hospital gown, but no information was available as to why. NOPD said he was taken into custody without incident.

No additional details were available Monday night, including Lee’s bond and attorney information or the victims’ names.

Anyone with information about this shooting should contact NOPD homicide detective Barret Morton at 504-658-5300.
