Report: West Bank cyanide plant would lose Jefferson’s OK under new Parish Council resolution
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -Two Jefferson Parish council members plan to support a resolution to deny permission for a controversial cyanide plant that would open near Waggaman.
According to a report by our partners NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune, this would be a major setback for the cornerstone chemical company.
Councilman Mark Spears said he would introduce a council resolution to rescind the earlier approval.
He said Councilman Paul Johnston plans to second it at the council’s February 27th meeting.
Spears said the about-face comes after the residents voiced their concern about the project.
