NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A 49-year-old man was killed after rear-ending an SUV on Chef Menteur Highway Sunday afternoon (Feb. 24), according to New Orleans police.

Shortly before 3:30 p.m., a woman driving a Ford Explorer was stopped at a traffic light near the intersection of Chef and Dale Street when she was hit from behind by a man riding a Suzuki motorcycle. The man was thrown from the bike and was pronounced dead on the scene, NOPD said.

The driver and passenger of the SUV refused EMS treatment, NOPD said.

Police did not release the victim’s name Sunday. It was not immediately known whether or not he was impaired at the time of the crash, NOPD said. A toxicology test is pending.
