NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - More than Entergy 5,000 customers were without power in Tangipahoa Parish Saturday afternoon (April 13), hours before severe weather is expected in the area.
According to Cleco’s map, there are more than 7,000 people without power in the Baton Rouge area. Entergy reports thousands without power in the same area.
Over 40 outages were reported around 2 p.m., shutting off power for a total of 4,303 people -- mainly between Hammond and Tickfaw. Winds of 40 to 50 miles per hour were recorded in the area.
The outages came as strong winds started to move towards the area and ahead of an “enhanced” threat of severe storms, including a potential risk of tornadoes.
