KENNER, La. (WVUE) - Two men from California were arrested after investigators found a large quantity of marijuana and THC oil in their luggage at Louis International Airport last Tuesday (April 9), according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s office.

Christopher Taylor of Lakewood and Elias Oyegoke of Fontana were detained when they picked up their checked bags after landing in New Orleans from Ontario, JPSO spokesman Lt. Jason Rivarde confirmed Monday. The bags had been flagged by a State Police K-9 named Boyca during a routine luggage inspection.

After stopping the two men, deputies searched the bags and discovered 35.5 pounds of marijuana and 100 vials of THC oil inside. THC is the active ingredient in marijuana that causes hallucinatory effects.

Taylor and Fontana -- both 31 -- were booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center on charges of possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and drug possession with the intent to distribute. Both men were released the next day on $50,000 bonds.
