NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The Saints are at the halfway point of their offseason and fans can now look forward to the beginning of the regular season as the NFL announced the schedule for all teams across the league. Meanwhile, LSU athletics is undergoing change at the top as athletic director Joe Alleva stepped down Wednesday and will reportedly be replaced by Baton Rouge native Scott Woodward.
Juan Kincaid on how the Saints’ schedule lays out:
“I’ve got them 13-3 and I don’t think I’ve ever picked them to be that high, winning that many games in the regular season, since I’ve been in New Orleans but I just think when you look at the schedule, you think about what this team has talent-wise, on both sides of the ball - and they still need to get better at some spots.... 13-3 is not out of the question.”
Garland Gillen on LSU’s reported hire of Scott Woodward as athletic director:
“They targeted Woodward, that was their guy and once they realized they were going to get Woodward, they kicked Alleva out the door. He went to Catholic High in Baton Rouge, worked under Chancellor Emmert from 2000-2004, he has a condo in the French Quarter, a fishing camp in Grande Isle. He is South Louisiana to the core so people probably relate to that more."
